Poppy’s Poor Paw

1 Aug

Poppy with bandage

Poor Poppy has a very sore paw. We think she caught it on a metal grid in the ford she likes to splash about in on her morning walk.

It has gouged a small hole at the top of her paw but it is very painful and by the next day she didn’t want to leave the house.

At the vet’s, her paw was bandaged and she came home for a day of recuperation in her favourite resting places.

After just a day of painkillers she was hopping about much more happily but on her second visit to the vet for her bandage to be changed, she remembered the pain and was most reluctant to enter the surgery.

She was lifted onto the examination table and, with me cradling her head and an assistant holding her hindquarters steady, the vet gently changed the dressing while Poppy shivered and shook and trembled throughout the procedure.

It must be very scary for her not knowing what is going to happen.

It hasn’t stopped her enjoying the evening sun on the place she likes best of all though – the swing seat. Nothing like a gentle rocking on a warm day to soothe the frayed nerves.

Oh no! I hate it when dogs cut their paws 😦

Kasper has had dozens of cut paws and torn nails…always such a nightmare as he’s such a high energy dog, and even wearing a cone of shame he can rip off a bandage…aagh!

Hope Poppy feels better soon ❤
