Day 17 and there is still no sign of Jaffa. It’s hard not to despair. Our other pets sense something is wrong too.
Poppy and Pippin have been helping us to scour the woods. But where amongst the thousands of trees do we stop looking?
Zanzi has been walking around the top of our wall where she has a panoramic view of the garden and all the surrounding fields. Where is her brother?
In the house she jumps to the top of the new kitchen units – is he up here perhaps?
And now Mother has joined her in the search.
The not knowing is agony. We have run out of options to check and now feel so helpless
There is a howl in our hearts.
Oh no…I can understand the hardest thing would be not knowing…we’re keeping all our fingers and paws crossed that he returns asap.

Oh I am so, so sorry to hear this – Jaffa is so like our Hermie. I can feel your anguish and can only hope that he comes home safely – it can still happen.

Thank you for checking in. More than six weeks and no sign or news of Jaffa. We suspect he may have been taken by a wild animal as we are right next to woodland. It’s hard to keep hoping – we are broken-hearted

I know this is silly but I hope he’s been found by someone else and is living happily with them. I only say this as our neighbours’ incredibly gregarious ginger cat regularly goes to live with other people for months at a time, then reappears. A long shot but I can only hope for you as I would for any of ours.

Thank you. I agree – if Jaffa is happy living elsewhere, then that really is the best of many possible outcomes. Jaffa is not gregarious – he was always wary of people who came to the house, even ones who came regularly but I would much rather he was alive than that something bad had happened to him. The not knowing what happened is the most painful thing.
